Day 01: Bangalore
Halasuru SomeshwaraOur representative will welcome you at Bangalore International Airport or Railway Station. Transfer to the hotel and relax for some time and then proceed to visit half day sightseeing. Visit Halasur Someshwara Temple, built by Kempe Gowda I in the 16th century and is a blend of Hoysala, Chola and Vijayanagara architecture. If time permits, proceed to visit Bull Temple, it is said that Bull (Nandi) is the biggest temple to Nandi in the world. Return to the hotel and overnight stay at the hotel.


Day 02: Bangalore - Somnathpur - Srirangapatna - Mysore
Somnathpur TempleMorning, after breakfast, check out the hotel and drive to Somnathpur Temple. The Keshava temple at Somnathpur is the last major temple of the Hoysala dynasty. The temple was built in 1268 AD and it is the best-preserved most complete monument of Hoysala architecture. Then proceed to Srirangapatna, the historical town of Karnataka.

Srirangapatana was the capital of the warrior king Hyder Ali and his son Tipu Sultan, having magnificent monuments. On arrival at Srirangapatna, visit Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple, Tipu Summer Palace, Gumbaz and then drive to Mysore. On arrival at Mysore, check in to the hotel. Evening free for shopping silk and handicraft items, then return to the hotel and overnight stay at the hotel.


Day 03: Mysore - Hassan
Mysore PalaceMorning, after breakfast, proceed for half day sightseeing at Mysore. Visit Mysore Palace, on of the main attractions of Mysore city. The architectural style of the palace is commonly described as Indo-Saracenic, and blends together Hindu, Muslim, Rajput, and Gothic styles of architecture and surrounded by a large garden. Evening free for shopping, then return to the hotel and check out the hotel. Then drive to Hassan. On arrival at Hassan, check in to the hotel and overnight stay at the hotel.


Day 04: Hassan - Belur - Halebid - Hassan
BelurMorning, after breakfast, proceed for full day sightseeing at Belur and Halebid. Firstly visit to Belur, a small town located on the banks of Yagachi river. Belur was the early capital of the Hoysala Empire. The main attraction in Belur is the Chennakeshava temple complex dedicated to Lord Chennakeshava (Vishnu) temple. The temple was built by King Vishnuvardhana of Hoysala Dynasty in the Dravidian Style. It is about one hundred feet high and has a magnificent gateway tower. There are many additional shrines around the main temple. They conceived their shrines as star-shaped structures and not the usual cubical form.

Belur HalebidThen proceed to Halebid, Temple. It flourished as the capital of the Hoysala Dynasty for about 150 years. It was also known as Dwarasamudra. It came to be known as 'Halebid' after it was plundered by the Delhi Sultan's armies two times in 1311 and 1327 and deserted. Halebid means ruined city. The temples at Halebid are sculptural extravaganza, richly endowed with most finely detailed scroll work in stone. The ornate Kedareshwara and Hoysaleswara temples here are remarkable monuments of Hoysala architecture. The Kedareshwara temple is Trikutachala built by Ballala II and his consort Abhinava Ketala Devi in 1219. Halebid is a good place to visit, especially as it stands as a symbol of the India's culture with the pride of past glory.

Belur and Halebid temples are also now being proposed as UNESCO World Heritage Site. Return to the hotel and overnight stay at the hotel.


Day 05: Hassan - Sravanabelagola - Bangalore
ShravanabelagolaMorning After breakfast, check out the hotel and proceed to Bangalore. Enroute, visit to Sravanabelagola. Sravanabelagola is one of the most important pilgrimage destinations in Jainism and popular for the statue of Gommateshvara Bahubali. The 57-feet tall monolithic statue of Gommateshvara is located on Vindyagiri Hill.

On arrival at Bangalore, transfer to the Bangalore International Airport or Railway Station. Historical South Trip ends with the delightful memories.
